Popular Proven Setups
Daily Driver
- 18x9.5” +45 - 265/35R18 - The definitive FK8 “downsize” setup. Direct bolt-on fitment with zero body modifications required. Can reduce unsprung weight by 40+ lbs and provides superior pothole protection. The easy button setup for the FK8 CTR.
- 19x9.5” +60 - 255/35R19 - FL5/DE5 OEM spec. Conservative 19” option with zero modifications. Excellent choice if you plan cross-platform wheel sharing or prefer 19” aesthetics over 18” ride quality benefits.
- 18x9” +45 - 255/40R18 - Conservative 18” option offering maximum sidewall compliance. Ideal for rough roads or comfort-focused builds. Verify Brembo clearance before purchase.
Aggressive Street
- 18x9.5” +40 - 255/35R18 or 265/35R18 - Balance of aggression and practicality. Front liner tab bending recommended, possible fender rolling with 265 tires. Offers excellent aesthetics with minimal tramlining.
- 19x9.5” +40 - 255/35R19 or 265/30R19 - Aggressive 19” street setup. Requires -1.5° camber minimum and possible fender work. Achieves aggressive styling while maintaining better ride quality than the OEM +60.
- 18x9.5” +35 - 255/35R18 or 265/35R18 - Maximum flush street fitment with serious stance. Requires front fender liner tab modification and -2.0° camber minimum. With 265 tires, fender rolling required on lowered suspension.
Track / Competition
- 18x9.5” +45 - 265/35R18 - Great combination for street and track. Lightest unsprung weight, widest tire compound selection.
- 18x10” +45 - 275/35R18 - Reverse stagger capable front wheel for dedicated track cars. Requires -2.0° camber to tuck the tire. Popular platform for track cars combining extra width with manageable fitment.
- 18x10.5” +47 - 285/35R18 - Competition-only setup requiring camber plates (-3.0°), fender modifications, and careful alignment work. Maximum contact patch for Track Rat and Time Attack builds.
Cross-Generation (FL5/DE5 Compatibility)
- 19x9.5” +60 - 255/35R19 - FL5 CTR and DE5 ITS OEM spec wheels. Drop-in compatible with FK8. Conservative fitment with zero modifications required.
- 19x9.5” +45 - 255/35R19 or 265/30R19 - Popular FK8-oriented 19” setup using 5x120 aftermarket wheels with FL5-style aesthetics. Direct fit with zero modifications required. Excellent cross-platform compatibility option.
- 19x9.5” +35 to +42 - 255/35R19 or 265/30R19 - Aggressive street 19” fitment for show-oriented builds. Requires fender modifications and -2.0° camber. Sacrifices ride quality compared to 18” downsizing but maintains visual presence.
Main OEM Considerations
Brembo Brake Clearance
The FK8’s 4-piston Brembo front calipers are beefy. Wheel fitment is not solely determined by offset and width. Actual fitment varies based on the wheel’s spoke profile and barrel shape. Verified compatible wheels include: Titan 7 T-S5/T-D6 (18x9.5” +45, +40), RAYS TE37 Saga (18x9.5” +45, +38), Apex VS-5RS (18x9.5” +45 / 18x10.5” +47), Enkei TS-5 (18x9.5” +45), Gram Lights 57DR/57CR (18x9.5” +38), and Konig Ampliform (18x9.5” +45, +35). Always verify brake clearance specifications with the manufacturer before purchase.
Fender Liner Tab and Fender Rolling
For aggressive fitments using 18x9.5” +38 or lower offsets, front fender liner tab modification and fender rolling may be required. The front fender liner has a small plastic tab that can be bent back or trimmed. With 265-width tires on +38 or lower offsets and lowered suspension, fender rolling may be necessary. 255/35R18 is “safer” for aggressive offsets though less performance oriented. Some non-200TW 265/35R18 may also fit without modification.
Load Index Requirements
The FK8 is a front-heavy vehicle with significant dynamic loads. Always select XL (Extra Load) rated tires. The OEM uses 90Y XL. Spec a load rating >90 and never downgrade from XL to SL (Standard Load) tires.
Indirect TPMS System
The FK8 uses an indirect TPMS system. After changing wheel size or tire pressure, calibrate via Settings > Vehicle > TPMS Calibration and drive 10-20 minutes for the system to learn the new rolling radius.
Hub Centric Rings
Many aftermarket 5x120 wheels have a 72.56mm center bore. The FK8 requires 64.1mm hub centric rings (72.56mm OD to 64.1mm ID). Use aluminum rings for track use, as brake heat can deform plastic rings and make wheel removal more difficult.
