Main OEM Considerations
Brembo Brake Clearance: The DE5 features large 4-piston Brembo front calipers from the factory. Wheel fitment is not solely determined by offset and width. Actual fitment varies based on the wheel’s spoke profile and barrel shape. Verified compatible wheels include Titan 7 T-S5/T-D6 (18x9.5” +45, +40), RAYS TE37 Saga (18x9.5” +45, +38), Apex VS-5RS (18x9.5” +45), Enkei TS-5 (18x9.5” +45), Gram Lights 57DR/57CR (18x9.5” +38), and Konig Ampliform (18x9.5” +35). When in doubt, verify with manufacturer before purchase.
Front Fender Liner Tab: The DE5 has a small plastic tab in the front fender liner that may require bending or trimming for particularly aggressive setups. This is a simple finger-bend modification taking only minutes per side.
Load Index Requirements: The DE5 requires XL (Extra Load) rated tires due to front-heavy weight distribution (62% front) and high dynamic loads. The OEM uses 93Y XL. Never downgrade to SL (Standard Load) tires.
Hub Centric Rings: Many aftermarket 5x120 wheels have a 72.56mm center bore (BMW spec). The DE5 requires 64.1mm hub centric rings (72.56mm OD to 64.1mm ID). Use aluminum rings for track use, as brake heat can deform plastic rings.
Indirect TPMS System: The DE5 uses an indirect TPMS with no physical sensors. After changing wheel size or tire pressure, calibrate via Settings > Vehicle > TPMS Calibration and drive 10-20 minutes for the system to learn the new rolling radius.
